intro

The historic Kings Theatre features a brightly-lit marquee sign and immensely high walls and ceilings, every inch of which are decorated with intricate gold moldings and ornate hand-painted artwork. Although it’s a seated venue, it’s got a solid soundsystem, and you’ll find most people up and dancing at shows here, especially in the pit.

history

Built in French Renaissance revival style, Kings Theatre was meant to be one of Loew’s Movie Theatre chain’s five lavish “movie palaces” in New York City. After closing in 1977 and subsequently deteriorating for decades, the theater eventually underwent significant renovations in the early 2010’s to restore its original beauty whilst adding modern technology. It officially reopened as a concert venue in 2015 and has hosted a variety of concerts, plays, and other live performances since then.
